Things are looking up for Utah tourism said tourism industry leaders at a recent roundtable meeting. All but three counties in Utah were down in tourism dollars from 2008 to 2009, but from 2009 to 2010, all but three were up. The numbers were due in part to corporate travelers according to Visit Salt Lake.

Rancho Markets has opened a seventh store in Utah in the Millcreek area of Salt lake City.  The new Rancho is located at 3300 South and 900 East. The 42,000 foot store embraces a Latin flare and features Tabascos, a full service restaurant. There is also a 48 foot bakery with items made from scratch daily including cakes, pastries and bread.

More out-of-state visitors are coming to Utah with tourism revenue on the rise. This is according to recent information released by the Utah Office of Tourism. Total spending by travelers and tourists in Utah was up last year to $6.525 billion, an increase of 4.7 percent, according to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget (GOPB).

BYU To Build New Life Sciences Building

The Brigham Young University Board of Trustees has approved the construction of a new Life Sciences Building, to be built on the south end of campus. The Life Sciences Building will include 265,000 square feet of teaching and research space for the College of Life Sciences and will be constructed directly south of the John A. Widtsoe Building. A brand new wing full of new stores will officially open (some are already open for business) on 11/11/2011 at Fashion Place Mall in Murray, UT. New stores include the first Crate and Barrel and H&M in Utah, as well as The North Face, Bastille, Ann Taylor, and the Loft.
